Scheduled Maintenance

In our efforts to continually enhance the functionality and value of our WAM!NET® Services, we will be performing scheduled maintenance on:

  • Date: Saturday, June 13th, 2009
  • Start Time: 08:00 CDT (GMT-05:00)
  • Duration: 6 hours


During this scheduled maintenance period, we will perform general maintenance which will impact several WAM!NET Services. Highlighted below are some of the benefits that will be available after this release.

Direct! Gateway

  • Introducing the new Direct! Gateway feature that allows the WAM!NET Purple Box to be accessible remotely via the Internet. All WAM!NET subscribers can expand their reach to more supply chain partners and in turn drive more traffic through their Purple Box. Remote users will have the same package status, tracking, notifications and dashboard capabilities as LAN users.
  • The following WAM!NET clients are supported for Direct! Gateway:
    • WAM!NET® Transmission Director X(SM) (TDX)
    • WAM!NET® Transmission Web Client(SM) (TWC)
    • WAM!NET® Transmission Scriptable Client(SM) (TSC)
    • Submission Icons on Direct! and Direct!IP services (see description below)
  • The Direct! Gateway feature will be available at no additional charge to all new and existing Direct! and Direct!IP subscriptions that utilize a Linux Purple Box. more »
  • Special note to customers who access WorkSpace through their Purple Box: Port 443 on the WAM!NET Purple Box will be reserved for the new Direct! Gateway feature. Currently all methods of accessing WorkSpace via the Purple Box utilize port 443 to provide secure logins. Following the June release this port will be changed to 5443. This modification does not necessitate any change to your current workflow, but you will need to ensure that port 5443 is open between your Purple Box and your workstation. Access to WorkSpace via the internet at will remain unchanged. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this notice, please contact us.

Submission Icon Enhancements

  • Support on Direct! and Direct! IP
      The Direct! and Direct! IP services will now support Submission Icons, both anonymous and authenticated, providing subscribers with another convenient way to invite third parties to submit content. Subscribers may take advantage of the same functionality that exists today for Submission Icons on the shared infrastructure, and may potentially see performance improvements.
  • File Filtering Capability
      A new configuration option at the Submission Resource level allows Administrators to restrict the types of files that can be sent via a Submission Icon based on file extension, may also be used to enforce file naming convention.
  • Improved package upload performance
      There have been improvements to accelerated package upload functionality for Submission Icons.

Content Studio Enhancements and Modifications

  • New ‘Download All’ functionality will allow users to download the entire contents of an eFolio at once, rather than one file at a time.
  • Additional proxy and transcoded file formats:
    • MPEG-4 300 Kbps 320x240 30 fps, h.264, AAC audio
    • MPEG-4 700 Kbps 480x320 30 fps, h.264, AAC audio
    • Windows Media 9 700 Kbps 480x320 30 fps
  • Proxy generation for Windows Media audio and video source files
  • Retirement of support for generating Real audio & video proxies and transcoding to Real audio & video formats when shipping files. more »
  • Retirement of MP3 audio and QuickTime RTSP streaming features more »

Additional Release Information

  • New version of Transmission Director X; TDX 3.3. Enhancements include acceleration improvements for the Microsoft Windows platform and right mouse click cut and paste in text fields. Available on Info Center Software Downloads.
  • New version of Transmission Scriptable Client; TSC 2.1.1 to include additional file transfer acceleration improvements. Available on Info Center Software Downloads.
  • Retirement Warning for TDX 2.7; users will see a message upon login to TDX 2.7 following the release warning of a future retirement date. more »
  • All notification emails will now come from as opposed to
  • Support for IE 8. Additional browser and OS platform support information can be found on WAM!NET Service Portal.

Availability of Services during Maintenance?

  • Starting at Midnight local time the evening before this scheduled outage, all WAM!NET Direct!(SM) Services boxes will be offline for approximately 30 minutes for software maintenance updates. Any packages currently shipping will continue after the upgrade.
  • WAM!NET Central Services will be unavailable during this window, including: Internet Gateway(SM), Info Center(SM), WorkSpace(SM), Content Studio(SM) and Content Submission Services(SM).
  • Direct! customers sending to other Direct! sites will be able to send files; however, package tracking and notifications will be unavailable during this time.
