In our efforts to continually enhance the functionality and value of our WAM!NET® Services, we will be performing scheduled maintenance on:

  • Date: Saturday, March 14th, 2009
  • Start Time: 08:00 CDT (GMT-05:00)
  • Duration: 6 hours

Purpose

During this scheduled maintenance period, we will perform general maintenance which will impact several WAM!NET Services. Highlighted below are some of the benefits that will be available after this release.

New Purple Box Transmission Dashboard with Local Queue Management

  • We are excited to announce the new Purple Box dashboard with local queue management for all Linux based Purple Boxes. This new dashboard provides users with more insight into delivery expectations for their packages and allows administrators to manage the outbound queue of active packages across all resources on the Purple Box. more »

Faster File Upload and Download Acceleration with TDX, TSC and Submission Icons

  • The upload and download acceleration for large files has been further enhanced for Transmission Director X(SM) (TDX), Transmission Scriptable Client(SM) (TSC) and Submission Icons to improve performance across a wider range of network conditions. The faster acceleration is available when the ‘Use optimized transfers for large files’ preference is turned on.

Improved Password Management

  • Password Expiration: Administrators have the option to enforce the expiration of passwords for their users to improve security, and if enabled, set the duration for the expiration. Administrators may also exempt individual users from password expiration or force a user to change their password at any time.
  • Password Strength: Administrators may now set rules regarding password strength; such as minimum password length, values the password cannot contain, and whether previous passwords are disallowed.
  • Forgot Password: The login page for WAM!NET Services will now include a Forgot Password link to aid users who have forgotten their password.

User Management and Package Tracking Updates

  • New display options for user and resource table views including Display All, advanced search capabilities and the ability to export table information.
  • Updated look and feel for Info Center Package Tracking where users are immediately presented with their packaging tracking results; Sent and Received, for the last 24 hours with options to expand the search and export the results.
  • Last Login date and time recorded for each user as part of their Service Login information and also available when viewing the Users List in User Management, making it easier for Administrators to identify idle users.

Submission Icon Enhancements including new File Confirmation Window

  • Submission Icon configuration now includes the option to force a Package Confirmation window to display after the user drags files onto a Submission Icon, providing the user with an opportunity to check the contents of the package before it is sent. Additionally, the Job ID may now be set to a predefined value and to avoid any confusion the Job ID and Client ID are no longer displayed in the Package window if a Job Ticket containing them is associated with the Submission Icon.

WAM!NET Service Announcements

  • To better inform WAM!NET users of service related information, we have expanded our communication policy to include an email announcement to all users prior to implementing a change to any WAM!NET service. Any user who does not want to receive these types of announcements may opt-out by de-selecting “WAM!NET Service Announcements” on their user account in Info Center. A valid email address must be on record for a user to receive WAM!NET Service Announcements.

Retirement Notices:

Availability of Services during Maintenance?

  • Starting at Midnight local time the evening before this scheduled outage, all WAM!NET Direct!(SM) Services boxes will be offline for approximately 30 minutes for software maintenance updates. Any packages currently shipping will continue after the upgrade.
  • WAM!NET Central Services will be unavailable during this window, including: Internet Gateway(SM), Info Center(SM), WorkSpace(SM), Content Studio(SM) and Content Submission Services(SM).
  • Direct IP(SM) Services will be unavailable for up to one hour during this maintenance window.
  • Direct! customers sending to other Direct! sites will be able to send files; however, package tracking and notifications will be unavailable during this time.
